Which roof type does your BMW have?

Roof bars are not universal, and the mounting system is what decides the fit. Rails with a visible gap underneath are raised rails. Rails that sit flush against the roof, with nothing to pass a hand through, are flush rails. Small covered mounting holes along the roof edge, with no rail at all, are fixed points. A bare, smooth roof needs a clamp-on bar that grips inside the door frames.
